ULMWP rally in Jayapura violently dispersed

Markus Haluk, ULMWP secretary in action April 2, 2024.

Thank you Lord!

In accordance with the expectations of the people and leaders of Papuan mass organizations, as well as the instructions of ULMWP Executive President Menase Tabuni, today, Tuesday, April 2, 2024, as ULMWP Executive Secretary, I was present in the midst of the people to receive their aspirations, hopes and prayers regarding the torture that occurred in Puncak Papua on February 3, 2024.

People stood in the middle of Indonesian colonial cannons. We were surrounded by panzers and guns. Today's action was dispersed by Indonesian security forces. Demonstrators were subjected to violence and 65 people were arrested. Meanwhile, demonstrations at Expo and Perumnas 3 Waena were forcibly dispersed with gunfire and tear gas.

But we won't back down. ULMWP will stand by the Papuan people to fight alongside them for political sovereignty and independence. Below are photos and videos of us and the violence of the Indonesian security forces. Thank you for all your support.

Greetings and prayers from Jayapura West Papua.

Markus Haluk

ULMWP Executive Secretary
